Borough Market

Yesterday we found the mother of all farmer's market, Borough Market.
The market is situated underneath the train tracks near London Bridge. Some stalls are permanent, but many go up only on Saturday. The market weaved in and out of tunnels, with some stalls in the open air and others under glass enclosure.
We arrived in the late afternoon so we decided to forage at the market for dinner. It started with oysters,
then on to meat sandwiches
plus pies to take home.
Of course there was sampling along the way too. I was particularly enamored with the olives.
We found a spot at the church next door to eat our feast.
And finished with a chocolate meringue the size of K's head.
C opted for a cupcake instead.
The selection and choices were staggering, if not a bit overwhelming. And there were definitely some things you wouldn't find back in the states....like pigeon pie for one. J is already plotting his return next week.

  1. One of my favorite places we visited in London (well, that and the old operating museum...definitely hit that up one of these days!)
