J's Birthday

Five years ago today we took a limo ride up to Napa with J's friend Steve and his wife.  There we had a luxurious dinner at Bouchon to celebrate J's birthday.  My what a difference 5 years can make.  We traded in a limo for the tube and Napa for London.  And the company...downsized. All in all, a good trade but one that would have been impossible to predict over a Pinot and fois gras.

The day unfortunately started with an unexpected visit to town hall a couple of towns away for parking permits.  K & J on the train:

There we witnessed bureaucracy taken to a whole new level.  No wonder George Orwell was afraid. Luckily the trip was successful and we still managed to make the most of the day.  After lunch, we played tourist and visited the Tower of London.

After touring, we walked across Tower Bridge to eat dinner at at the Draft House pub.  Strangely all the decor was American movie memorabilia.  Here are J and the kids waiting for our food to arrive.

Finally, no outing would be complete without a playground stop.  This one is across the street from the Tower of London.  We seem to always find the playgrounds with the best backdrops.
Happy Birthday, J!  Any guesses where we'll be next birthday?
