Last weekend C and I were in a Valentine's Day mood. We made cards decorated with heart doilies (inspired by Martha Stewart) and heart-shaped Rice Krispy treats.
When we started the cards C was just writing the names and I was writing the rest, but as we went along she got more and more confident with her writing. By the end she was writing the entire card by herself. She even thought to make a card for me. On a side note, I love the penmanship style that she is being taught. It has a bit of curvy flourish at the end of the letters.

For the treats, we turned the marshmallows pink with a little food coloring but once the krispies were mixed in it was hard to see any difference.
C couldn't wait for the Feb 14 so once we finished, she delivered Valentine's Day treats to the neighbors.
This morning I got up early to make the kids their favorite banana pancakes, usually reserved for weekends given the amount of prep time. The kids were thrilled. Of course, our griddle conked out (well, more specifically our transformer that lets us use our US appliances conked out) after the first batch so I had to make the rest over the stove. What a hassle. Luckily J's coffee was already brewed by the time we lost power. The kids also gave me Valentine's Day cards. I just love them and got a good chuckle out of the little tufts of hair behind the ear that C drew in for J.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Look at those lower case letters. Awesome job, C!
