The Birthday Boy
This year we were fortunate to celebrate K's birthday with lots and lots of family. After opening presents Saturday morning, we caught a train into NYC.
Once we arrived, we walked up 7th Ave. through Times Square where we encountered multiple Elmo's, Mickey's, Minnies and other random characters.
We met Grandpa C outside the Time Life Building (where I used to work) which was across the street from our first destination, Radio City Music Hall.
It's been many, many years since J & I saw the Rockettes so it was really fun to watch the Christmas Spectacular, especially so close to Christmas . The kids enjoyed it too although K snoozed through the middle section.
After the show, we walked by the Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center.
And then south to Virgil's BBQ for K's birthday celebration.
It was fun to see the family - 20 of us! And the kids loved spending time with their L-cousins. Having older cousins is not just a treat for the kids but for the parents too. Katie, Tara and Megan did a great job entertaining the kids and chasing them around the restaurant (yes, 'best behavior' was not achieved on this day)
And to top off lunch, a birthday cake from Magnolia Bakery - yum!
After the party we were all a bit exhausted so we walked back to Penn Station to catch a train. The station was packed and when our train was finally called, we had to work hard to keep the crowds behind us so that the kids could safely make it down the stairs. We were lucky to find a seat. The train cars were packed to the brim - every seat taken and people standing through the aisles. K was asleep immediately, until about 20 min. into the journey when he woke up coughing and then preceded to barf all over the window, seat and floor. Oh joy. What's the saying...it's not a party until someone throws up?

Lucky boy!!! (Can't believe he's THREE!)
