Orchard Farm Organics

While in NJ, I met a very sweet woman - named Caroline! - at Joan's memorial service.   It turns out that Caroline and her husband Bob, own and operate an organic farm about 5 min. down the road from J's dad's house.  Caroline invited us over to visit the farm and meet their newest arrival, a baby goat just a week old.

The next morning the kids and I suited up and drove out to the farm.  Luckily we're in the habit of not traveling anywhere without wellies as they came in very handy.  The first stop was to say 'hi' to the chickens - all healthy, plump and roaming about.  K gave it a good try but was unsuccessful in catching one.  Caroline told us that cousin Emily was a master chicken catcher.
The kids really wanted to see the eggs so Caroline invited them into the chicken coop to see what they could find.  C found it a bit smelly, but was successful none the less.  Caroline let us keep the eggs and we had them for breakfast the following morning.
After the chickens we ventured over to see the baby goat. He was very cute - mostly black with a few patches of white.  Caroline picked the kid up so that C & K could pet it.  C hung back a bit but K was totally into it.
It was a fun morning and such a special treat to get a private tour of the farm.
