It was a lovely day so J & I were game. K was the least interested and he dragged himself and pouted through most of the climb. But in the end, we all made it to the top which offered beautiful views across Edinburgh. While the bottom part of the climb was a dirt & stone path, the last part of the climb was all volcanic rock. It definitely tested ones balance and agility.

K was more excited on the way down, and was intent upon staying in the lead (cue the Peter Pan song "following the leader, the leader, the leader..."). So K and J went ahead while C and I enjoyed a leisurely stroll down, stopping at different intervals to take pictures.

Luckily going down was much quicker than going up since we were starting to cut it close to getting to the airport with enough time. After getting off the hill, we made a final stop at Oink for lunch and than briskly walked back to the hotel. We made it to the airport with almost no time to spare (in fact check in had already closed but luckily I checked in online while in the taxi!).
Really glad we made the trip and 3 days seemed like the perfect amount to explore the city. Edinburgh is probably one of, if not the, prettiest European city we've visited so far. I definitely want to go back to Scotland but next time, farther north to the Highlands to see more of the countryside and possibly catch a glimpse of the Loch Ness monster.
