K 6th Birthday Party

It only took six years for us to throw K a proper birthday party.   Having a birthday only a couple of days before Christmas is the worst (my brother's birthday is dec 21 so I witnessed it first hand growing up). Everyone is caught up with Christmas activities and they're either busy or traveling.

Well this year J & I got our act together early and planned a party for K on the last day of school which happened to be a half-day so it worked out perfectly.  We had 16 kids attend a jumping party a local indoor trampoline space, Oxygen.

The first hour the kids jumped to their hearts content with different sections of Oxygen offering different types of jumping activities.  K's favorite was the big pit although it made me absolutely cringe watching him jump in backwards and on his head.

After the hour jump, the kids came up to the party room where they ate pizza and then had cake.  In a space-out moment, I forgot to bring the candle and forks for the cake (although in my defense Oxygen never told me they don't supply forks).  I did however remember to bring a knife.  The kids didn't seem to mind though and happily ate with their hands.

I'm always on the lookout for something more interesting for party favors than the bags of candy & cheap plastic toys which seem to litter our house.  So for K's birthday, all the kids received personalized water bottles.  They were cute although I'm pretty sure the boys would have preferred candy.

When we got home K opened all his presents.  His friends wrote him lovely cards and were so thoughtful with their gifts which were mostly football and star wars related games, books & legos. Two standouts were Star Wars Pajamas and Twister!!!
