This year J and K went on a boys ski trip to Austria. With the new puppy, we always knew I would be staying home (and since I don't ski it wasn't an issue) but C also stayed home as she refractured her wrist a few weeks ago so she had to stay off skis per doctor's orders
For the past two years we've been visiting the ski town of Alpbach in Austria and staying at the Alpbach Hotel. Unfortunately we were unable to get a room this year so needed to find a new place to stay. The best option was Hotel Talhof in Auffach, a nearby town on the other side of the mountain, connected by gondola to Alpbach. The initial plan was to have K ski in on a junior ski team for the week in Alpbach but on the first day it was clear that it was too big a logistics challenge to get him there in time every morning. So J found a local ski class for K to join. He was the only student who spoke English but he didn't seem to mind at all. His instructor spoke some English so would give all the kids instructions in German and then repeat the instructions in English for K.
On the final day, the kids in the class participated in a ski race. Some video of K's run.
K is the ultimate competitor so not surprisingly he won his race. Here he is with his instructor Timo and his first place trophy!
K particularly enjoyed standing on top of the podium.
K sent me this photo from dinner last night...my bet is he will order another one to celebrate tonight!
