In addition to basketball and soccer, K is also playing baseball this season. Hard to think of something more American. Go Braves!
I offered to be the Assistant Coach as well which has been a nice experience getting to know the boys and helping out where I can. It's also a good example of a key benefit of moving in that I am home much earlier and am able to spend more time with the kids.
The first few practices and games got rained out so it was a slow start to the season, compounded by the fact that the head coach got a knee injury and is out for the season, but things are finally starting to pick up. Our first couple of outings showed signs of the bad news bears, but the team is starting to gel and even if we're not winning, we're getting close. I'm expecting some exciting games as we head into the back half of the season.
So far, K has been playing outfield and first base but this week he also tried pitching. He was rotated in with bases loaded and managed to get us out of the inning which included a strikeout. Definitely not an easy situation to step into particularly on your first outing. But he did so well Coach kept him in for another inning. Luckily he liked it as well and is eager to pitch again soon.
That is if he's willing to put his book down!
