Last Sunday C played in a hockey tournament up in San Francisco. She and I left early in the morning to get to the field on time. The tournament was held at Paul Goode Field in the Presidio which was an absolutely lovely setting. The field was surrounded by eucalyptus trees, whose smell I found absolutely intoxicating, with views of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The team played 4 games throughout the morning, winning only one, however that was enough to put them into the playoff game for 3rd place. It was a close battle but the other team came out on top.

Most of the girls are relatively new to the sport so there is definitely room for improvement. C is one of the more experienced players (this is her 3rd or 4th year) and she plays center middle, a position that allows her to play both offense and defense and help the other girls get into position. She also takes most of the free hits. C thoroughly enjoys playing hockey and luckily doesn't seem to get too bummed out by the losses. She practices 2-3 times a week and play tournaments about 2 times a month. C is in the youngest division U12 but the club has U14, U16 and U19 teams as well.

I'm glad she's found a sport that she enjoys so much and with a group of girls she enjoys being around.
