San Jose Children's Museum

Today was our first trip to the San Jose Children's Discovery Museum. I'd say it was a success...sort of. We heard great things about the "water exhibit" from friends, so once we were in, we headed straight there. The good news is that Caroline loved it, especially after Josh found the area for little kids (btw...josh loved playing with the water & balls too).

The bad news is that we didn't think to bring a change of clothes. Sure, they give you a little 'waterproof' smock to wear but in the end, it was a bit of a joke. Caroline was absolutely soaked from head to toe. You would think the gift shop would stock up on shirts, sweatshirts, etc. for unprepared parents like us, no? All they had was a t-shirt sized for a 10 yr. old (which of course I bought out of desperation). Luckily we decided to become members so there will definitely be more visits in our future. And now we have a souvenir t-shirt!

Here's a short video from the exhibit:

  1. So cute! I think the blue raincoats provide a little more coverage. God only knows what is growing on them, though (I thought there were a bit, um, stinky). I think next time we'll totally just go for a change of clothes.

  2. we tried the blue ones first - major meltdown trying to put it on her. And the sleeves didn't seem to stay rolled when we finally did get it on. But I'm with you - change of clothes will do the trick. And really, she didn't seem to mind being soaked one bit.

  3. oh man!!! I want to take G! Can you bring guests w/ a membership? Want to work out an exchange - we joined Academy of Sciences recently and can bring guests.

  4. shane - G would LOVE the museum. Unfortunately I don't think we can bring guests with our memberships. Not sure if you want another membership but the breakeven is only 3 visits. Ava could get a corporate membership with Yahoo! - I was able to with Apple.
