Family Photoshoot

Sunday morning we headed out for a family photoshoot. The last time we took professional pictures was when C was 8 1/2 mos. old so I wanted photos around the same age for K. We also used the same photographer as last time because I wanted a similar look and feel to the photos. Plus, I think V takes amazing photos and once again, I was not proven wrong. But I digress.

For weeks leading up to the shoot I agonized over what we should all wear. I picked C's multi-colored skirt first then had to work around that. You'd think a multi-colored skirt would provide lots of choices but since J didn't really want to wear pink, yellow or purple, the options were a bit more limited. Next we had to find the right location. It couldn't be anywhere near a playground or else that is all C would want to do. So we settled on Villa Montalvo in Saratoga which was a great choice. It's an old estate surrounded by hiking trails and beautiful gardens.

The shoot itself was interesting to say the least. Our two year old with a mind of her own did not want to sit or smile. Jumping, running, climbing, swinging - those were the only things that C wanted to do and which made her smile. I'm so thankful V has a 3 yr. old son of her own so she knows what it's like, plus she has the patience of a saint. True to form, K took the shoot in stride and was an easy-going, happy boy. I walked away thinking we'd be lucky to get one shot of us all looking at the camera.

In addition to the on-location shots, we planned to do some naked baby studio shots with K. But by the time we had wrapped things up (including sending out a search party for a missing shoe), K had missed his morning nap and was having none of it. My always happy, smiling baby would cry every time I tried to put him down. Then he peed all over me which was pretty much our cue to leave it for another day.

So that was the story of our shoot. Click here if you want to see some pictures. V did an amazing job and managed to capture our craziness in the loveliest of ways.
