Slowly but Surely

K is finally starting to speak. Real words and sentences that we can understand. It's awesome. He will still get shy if we prod him too much so we've learned that we just have to be patient, sit back and let him do it at his own pace. But more importantly, K is really enjoying being able to communicate better too. There are always big smiles and bright eyes when J or I repeat back a word or phrase that was correctly understood.

Every day brings new and different words. Last week K clearly said "strawberry" although there was a scooby-doo aspect to his pronunciation - more like "rarw-berry".

Yesterday I was playing ball with the kids just before bedtime. I told them "three more throws each" at which point K raised up his hand and said "five". I was so amazed I had to call J in from the other room just to hear/see it.
My favorite word of K's these days is "Daddy" which comes complete with a British accent. When he gets out of bed in the morning, he opens his door and shouts, "dah-dee, dah-dee". It's super cute - although probably cuter to me since I'm not the one he's calling for to get out of bed.

And then there are the words and sounds that we finally understand (after much repetition and frustration), but still need work such as "naan" (Cat) and "nee" (fish).

I'm sure he'll get there. Slowly but surely.
