The answer is YES, you can do that here, at the same farm we've been picking berries at all summer. The apple trees were full of fruit and J & I were surprised at how short they were. We were expecting to do some climbing but the apple tree was more of an apple bush. This made it nice and easy for the kids to pick which they had a ball doing. It was also a fun backdrop for me to take photos.

One of the side benefits of picking fruit...eating it too.
After picking and eating way too many apples, we made our way to the pumpkin field. C went for the biggest one she could find but after struggling to pick it up decided a small one would be just fine and that dad could carry the big one. K had his heart set on a small one all along.

There was still some corn in season so the kids and I headed into the depths of the field to find some. I'm not sure how she managed it but C got the equivalent of a paper cut from shucking corn. She was bleeding and screaming while she ran out of the field...must have been quite the sight emerging from the stalks. J patched her up and all was right in the world again.

While C was getting tended to, K and I picked some broccoli:

So now we have lots of apples....and lots of baking in our future. And pumpkins decorating our house. Our british neighbors probably think we're nuts.
While I love the summer season most of all, fall is a close second.
