Since I'm always working Thanksgiving week we chose the Sunday after to celebrate the Holiday. As in previous years, our friends KK & MM came over with their kids, but this year we also invited a British family over as well. They were thrilled to be participating in an American Thanksgiving which for them was a first.
C and I had fun setting the table and making place cards. We searched on Pinterest to find ideas that we liked and weren't too hard to execute.
Originally the pilgrim hat was supposed to hold crayons but in the end, it worked better as a real hat for our resident wood deer head, Elvis.
I was excited to have my childhood Turkey decoration adorn the table as well - J rescued them from our CA storage locker this past July.
This was the most people we've had for dinner so the week before we ended up buying a folding table and some chairs. I then when to TKMaxx (yes, same as TJ just a K instead of a J in UK?!) and found a tablecloth and napkins.
Unfortunately I have no photos of all of our guests but suffice it to say it was a lovely meal, made even more special sharing with friends old and new. J and I had never been so well prepped before and our 3 ovens came in handy when trying to time all the dishes. Discussing the Thanksgiving traditions with our British friends was particularly entertaining.
Would you believe they had never eaten a sweet pie before?! I think that might be a tradition they adopt themselves. Can't blame them!
