Guy Fawkes Night

"Remember, remember the fifth of November with gunpowder, treason and plot" - C

November 5th is Guy Fawkes night where all Brits celebrate the spoiled attempt to blow up the Parliament building.  For the week or so leading up to the 5th you can catch glimpses of fireworks going off throughout the city.  In fact, our neighbors across the street were lighting some off almost every night. This year we bought tickets to a firework show at the Golf & Tennis club in our town.  It was a really nice event and one we'll return to next year.

Doors opened about 2 hrs. before the fireworks display  - there were different food and drink stations (we opted for BBQ pulled pork - yum!) as well as a DJ playing music.  The entire day it rained so everything was a bit wet and muddy but luckily it was down to only a light drizzle by the time the firework show began. At 8pm everyone found a spot on the grass overlooking the golf course.  But after about 4 aborted attempts to get the display started we were starting to get a little nervous.  You could see men out on the golf course with their flashlights checking on the fuses (this definitely made be nervous).  J and I were debating how long to wait since it was already passed the kids bedtimes but luckily, 20 min later, they finally go it to work.

The firework show was put to music and it definitely had a wow factor.  Some video of the finale.
