In addition to the Magic of Tidying book, I just finished two others that I highly recommend. Both deal with the subject of death so if you think you will escape tear free you are wrong, but I really enjoyed both of them.
A Window Opens- Elisabeth Egan
A suburban mom with 3 kids and a part-time job goes back to work full-time when her husband loses his job after not making partner at a New York law firm. There was a lot to relate to with regard to family life and I loved the NY setting. Definitely an enjoyable read...the main character is funny, real and definitely the type person I'd want as a friend.
When Breath Becomes Air - Paul Kalanithi & Abraham Verghese
This book is getting a lot of press. It's written by a Stanford Neurosurgeon who lost his battle with cancer. Lovely, honest thoughts about life and death and sweet parting words for his newborn daughter, Cady.
"When you come to one of the many moments in your life where you must give an account of yourself, provide a ledger of what you have been, and done, and meant to the world, do not, I pray, discount that you filled a dying man's days with a sated joy, a joy unknown to me in my prior years, a joy that does not hunger for more and more but rests, satisfied. In this time, right now, that is an enormous thing."
