Red House Captain

This is the last year for K in his current school.  Hard to believe it but he and his friends are the "big kids" roaming the hallways of the pre-prep.

When J & I picked him up from school on Day 1 he was beaming from ear to ear.  Why you ask?  He was selected as Red House Captain for the term.  From what I gather, the teachers were the ones who selected the House captains so it seems like quite the honor and nod of recognition that he was chosen from about 60 boys.  Way to go, K!
So what does it mean...All the kids in the school are divided amongst 4 houses (red, blue, green and yellow) and they earn points for their team throughout the week by exhibiting model behavior such as following directions, helping others and doing well on their studies. Yes, very Hogwarts, indeed.

According to K, at the end of each week the winning house (the one with the most points) is awarded the golden falcon (literally a statue of a falcon painted in gold) and the house captain gets to come up during assembly and receive the award on behalf of the house.  K also tells me that his job is to be a good role model and to take care of the school. K is super competitive so I wouldn't' be surprised if the Red house wins week one!
