C's been taking Judo lessons in school for the past few years. She never practiced at home so I had no idea what she's been up to. All I knew was that ever year or so she came home with a different color belt.
Well that all changed when she competed in a Judo tournament. Upon arrival all the kids were weighed and divided into groups. The first round? duel? sparring? (see, clueless about all things Judo) was against one of her classmates. Even though C was a bit smaller it was a pretty fair match-up. Right at the end of the time limit, C was taken to the mat and lost the round.

Her second round was against the best girl in their group who literally put C over her shoulder and body-slammed her to the mat. I think I gasped. It was a very impressive move and an easy follow-on pin.
Good for C for hanging in there though and she didn't seem at all discouraged with her bronze trophy.

Assuming she sticks with it, I clearly have some reading up to do on the sport!
