This year we dropped the ball a bit planning C's birthday party. C wanted to have a laser tag party but by the time we called all the local places were completely booked. We offered some alternatives, even delaying the party until the fall, but C was pretty adamant that it had to happen on her birthday. The only "party" she would consider was a sleepover but J&I had plans to be out both Friday & Saturday nights so a sleepover was a non-starter.
In the end we landed on a C focused-day of celebration with the family.
First up was present opening. C asked for just two things this year; 1. A water bottle with a Spritzer and 2. Unicorn Snot. In addition to these gifts, she got some new clothes, a sparkly water bottle, a pink & black baseball mitt and a few books including two about Polar Bears, her favorite animal. She was thrilled with everything!

After presents, C & I baked confetti cupcakes to take into school the next day to celebrate her birthday.

C & I then headed out to Notting Hill to meet up with cousin Katie for a girls-only manicure and pedicure. C's painting choices were multi-colored and sparkly!

Once finished, the three of us hopped a bus to Picadilly Circus to meet up with J & K for Afternoon Tea at The Wolsely. I'm not sure why we get sandwiches since the kids always go straight for the sweet treats.

Cousin K gave C malteasers candy and pink slime which she was over the moon about.

Overall it was a fabulous day and C was happy throughout. Here she is at the end of her birthday sharing words of wisdom and calling her day "the best birthday ever".

The following day J baked C a lemon cake with lemon frosting (by request) and we had a second celebration.

Finally, the annual survey of Nine Year Old Favorites according to C:
Happy 9th Birthday to our dog-loving, polar bear hugging, unicorn snot wearing C! We love you!!
