It's apple picking time which meant a trip to Garsons Farm was definitely in order. While picking, an older man struck up a conversation with J & I. He said he'd been picking apples at Garsons for 40 years and that the yellow variety was the best. He admitted they didn't look the best, but they certainly tasted the best - juicy and sweet with the right amount of sour. I'm so glad he told us as we too were headed for better looking green & red variety. Another "don't judge a book by it's cover" educational moment for us. We left with three huge bags filled with apples. Time to get out the fall recipe book!

C sampling the bounty

In addition to apples, we picked french beans, corn, raspberries, broccoli and cauliflower.

A brief moment of togetherness - J & I are convinced they are plotting against us!

We decided to pass on the pumpkins and save that for another trip back to the farm in October!

After Garsons we stopped at our favorite german restaurant, Steins, in Kingston for dinner. It was a beautiful day so we were able to sit outside and watch the sailboats on the Thames while we ate pretzels, sausages and weiner schnitzel.

A perfect Sunday afternoon in our book.
