On FB, my friend G nominated me for a daily "B&W Photo from your Life" challenge. I love taking photos and always have my iPhone handy so I was definitely game. The rules: seven black & white photos from your life over seven days. No people, no explanation. Some days I had multiple photos to choose from and others I was getting down to the wire. Here are the photos I posted (with a little commentary now that the challenge is over).
Day 1: my work computer from inside the Cork office. I like how you can see the office lights reflected in the apple logo

Day 2: passed by this neat building on walk to dinner in Cork. Inside the circular structure was a stairwell. Love how the graffiti gives the photo some grittiness.

Day 3: commuting to work - standing on the platform at Ravenscourt Park after dropping K off at school. Stripes galore.

Day 4: two tiered bike rack next to Turnham Green station. The photo has a romantic quality to it with the leaves and moss-covered stone wall.

Day 5: shot this the day before when I was leaving work. Fantastic tile work on the platform wall. Screams rat race to me.

Day 6: walk through Chiswick House & Gardens with my friend A visiting from NC while the kids rode their bicycles. We're lucky to have this slice of heaven so close by.

Day 7: probably my favorite photo of all. A and I played tourist for the afternoon and walked over Westminster Bridge on our way to the Globe Theater.

Plus a few photos that didn't make the cut:

Not surprisingly, I really enjoyed the challenge. It forced me to observe my every day surroundings with a fresh set of eyes and see beauty in the mundane. It was a good lesson in gratitude as well.
