2017 Ornaments

Every year I buy an ornament or two that represent the year; usually from someplace we've traveled to or some family activity.  I may have gone a bit overboard this year but ornaments are my favorite 'souvenir' and I'm actually bummed that I couldn't find any in Thailand.

Wood ornament from Zermatt Switzerland.  Typically i wouldn't go for a manger scene but I love that the manger spins around within the ornament like a German Christmas pyramid.

Painted winter wonderland scene from Lapland UK

Crocheted Christmas Pudding. Also from Lapland. Even though I've never actually tried one, it screams British Christmas to me.

Lobster from the Royal Academy of Art as a nod to Dali's lobster telephone artwork.

Festive Pirate ship from Alexander Bay in upstate NY where we visited this summer with Grandpa & Marylin.

Ceramic "Mailed by Mule"stamped ornament from the Grand Canyon.  There is a mail bag at the bottom of the Canyon at Phantom Ranch and all letters/postcards mailed from there get this stamp.

Adirondack chair - also from Alexander Bay as a replacement for my broken adirondack chair ornament that my Aunt gave to my mom many many Christmases ago. It was always one of my favorite ornaments. Must be something about the simplicity of design + relaxing thoughts of being at the beach.

White House fire truck - this was actually a 2016 ornament but it didn't arrive in time to make the tree last year.  Each year the White House releases a limited-edition ornament and I bought this one because I wanted to commemorate President's Obama's last year in office.  Oh how we miss his leadership and general decency for people of the world!

I also bought a few ornaments from Harrod's as gifts but kept this one because it was so pretty.
