My roommate from college was visiting her sister in the East Bay so we drove out to their place for the afternoon. They live on a ranch in the hills of Clayton, home not just to their family but a farmyard of chickens, donkey's, pigs, horses and miniature horses - all rescued.

KB offered C a bareback ride on one of the horses which she loved.

K stuck to the miniature pony's although by the time we left the barn it was apparent that he was allergic, either to the horses or the hay. His eyes were swollen and he had a developed a bad cough. We threw him in the shower and gave him some Benadryl which seemed to settle things down.
C never wanted to leave and wants to know when we can go back however it's about an hour and a half drive from where we live so not that easy to get to. I'm sure we'll make plans for a return trip at some point though. Not surprisingly, the visit also renewed C's interest in riding lessons.
