Day in SF

The week of Thanksgiving, C and I took a ride into SF for some Christmas Shopping.  I had 2 shops specifically that I wanted to visit, General Store and Yonder SF.  Given the year that we had, I was trying to shop local where I could. The first shop was in the Outer Sunset area, very close to Ocean Beach.  So after a visit to the shop, we parked near the beach and spent some time by the ocean.  While I thought it was ridiculously cold, C was not afraid to get her feet wet. The road next to the ocean was closed to traffic so allowed for many more people to be out riding bikes, walking and running which was nice to see.

The next shop was a bit farther north in the outer Richmond districts.  We drove through Golden Gate park then through the streets of SF. I absolutely love how much character the buildings, shops and homes have.

Since it was a nice day and we were so far north, we decided to drive over the Golden Gate Bridge. I really love driving over the bridge given how iconic it is but also for the incredible views.  Once we hit Marin, we drove up to the Marin Headlands and hiked to a viewpoint.  The sky was blue and clear which provided an amazing view of SF.

It was well past lunch and both C and I were pretty hungry so we headed over to Sausalito.  We found a lovely Italian restaurant on the water, Bar Bocce, that had lots of outdoor seating. We lucked out with a table in the corner with a view of the bay surrounded by plexi-glass on two sides and an overhead heater. Warm, cozy and safe. We shared two pizza's and both were absolutely delicious.  Definitely a spot to go back to!

We capped off the day with ice-cream cones from Lappert's, then drove back over the bridge towards home. On the way back, we took a detour to drive down Lombard St, the windiest street in SF and then drove through North Beach and Chinatown.

I realized we definitely need to make more of an effort to take advantage of the beautiful and diverse area we live in, although COVID certainly has made it harder.
