- Da-dee (used for both mommy & daddy. While it's always made me a bit sad that 'mommy' isn't in her repetoire, when she screamed da-dee from her crib at 5 am this morning, it was kind of nice)
- Na-nau (Kevin - not quite sure how this one came about but my theory is that it is some derivative of 'gentle')
- Wa - Wa (water - no surprise that this was one of her first words as she always has at least 3 drinks in play and when she's with friends, she's pretty much in charge of making sure every water bottle is accounted for and everyone has theirs)
- Uh Peas (Up Please - she learned this phrase when needing help to get up on the couch, but it's used pretty much all the time for up, down, help...basically a catch-all "I need attending to!" phrase)
- Doh (throw - let me tell you, the girls got an arm. And I'm amazed at her accuracy.)
But less than a week after installing a board for her magnetic letters, we've had a major breakthrough in C's communication skills. Not only is she repeating many of the words that we say, but she is starting to ask for things on her own and we can UNDERSTAND her. Oh joy. To be able to actually communicate with C is not only fun but is is also a relief...for all of us.
I love hearing her sweet little voice and her unique pronunciation. Some of my favorite words so far:
- a-k-sau: this was the breakthrough word, and 3 syllables to boot! I asked what she wanted to eat and she said applesauce.
- baah: Pretty much anything having to do with bath... bathroom, bathtub, potty, etc. Last night she asked for a bath after dinner which is definitely a habit we want to encourage.
- buh-by: now it accompanies the wave. even at bedtime. so cute.
- bea: breast. yeah, luckily only mommy can decipher this one. She learned this from watching & pointing during Kevin's feedings.
Perhaps those Alphabet magnets have special powers?
Caleb has that same alphabet magnets... I think they do have magical powers. :)
ReplyDeleteSoon she'll be talking up a storm and you won't get her to be quiet. ;)
