Two Thoughts

Two. We've been asked by a number of people how we're managing with two kids - both under the age of 2. So far, it seems to be going well (knock on everything wood in sight). We're really enjoying Kevin as a baby - probably because we're more confident and a bit more laid back this time around (I know some of you are thinking, how much more laid back can they get!). With Caroline we seemed more concerned about doing things "right" and now we just figure everything will work out and that there really isn't one right way.

In general, Caroline is really good with the baby although we do have to be on ready alert when she's around. She tries to be helpful and mimic what we do...like rocking his seat (really hard), putting in his pacifier (after pulling it out first) and wiping his mouth (hello, suffocation), but she's really sweet too and gives him lots of kisses. She's also the best monitor in the house - she hears him start stirring from sleep before we ever do.

Josh & I felt a lot of guilt having #2 and we worried about how it would affect Caroline and our happy family of three, but now we're confident that it's positive for all of us. These days Caroline actually gets more attention since Josh & I are both home and we can already tell that she'll really enjoy having a playmate once Kevin is a bit more mobile. For now, she just tortures him in her own helpful way.
