Progress

I'm happy to say that we're making good progress with the house. Not only do we have a chair, but we now have a couch and 3 barstools. Last weekend we made blueberry pancakes for breakfast after which J declared "it finally feels like home".
We also made decisions on the rest of the furniture we need to buy in the short-term so we feel good about that. In fact our dining chairs arrive today...now if only we had that table. I had envisioned us traveling all over Europe on weekends by now and it seems the only place we are traveling to is IKEA! If J can muster the courage to drive on the other side of the road, he might rent a van and take a trip to IKEA next weekend to load up.

I haven't counted the boxes lately but we're probably down to about 20. Here is our ridiculous floor-to-ceiling pile of empty boxes and stuff to giveaway. A trip to the recycling center is also part of the van rental itinerary.
Most of the remaining boxes are full of china, glassware and blankets. Mistakenly everything in our blanket chest ended up coming. Which would have been ok if we didn't leave the blanket chest itself behind. If you know me, we have LOTS of blankets and quilts, so we need to find some storage space for those. We also brought our bookshelf/drawer wall unit from the living room figuring the design would give us flexibility depending on how big the space was. What we didn't anticipate though was that the ceilings would be too high! This means we need to bring in a handyman to mount the unit on the wall. Once this happens, we should be able to unpack most of the china and glassware. Hooray!
