Long Overdue Meet-Up

Today my friend Chris and his two daughters, A & T, took the train out to visit us.  Both J and I have known Chris for many years.  We all worked together at Yahoo! and Chris and I were classmates at business school.

Chris and his family moved to London from San Francisco about a year before us.  In fact, it was actually a phone conversation with Chris last spring that convinced me we had to move.  He told me that when he and his wife were deciding on whether or not to move, their perspective was "we could live in SF for the next 20 years, or we could live in London for 5 yrs and SF for 15 yrs."  In the grand scheme of things, it certainly seemed like a small amount of time to be away and a great adventure not to be missed.

Crazy as it sounds, it took us over 6 months to actually meet up in person in London.  Chris and I went to dinner a couple of weeks ago in Soho and today we finally met his two beautiful daughters.  We met up at our local park, which C refers to as her "school park", since that's where they take the kids on nice days.
A and T are just a couple of months older than C so they all played nicely together.  In fact, at one point they were pushing one another on the swings giving the parents a much deserved break.  C also showed A & T her "super girl" swing moves which they quickly learned how to do.  T was keen to push K on the swings but unfortunately K wasn't really interested in cooperating.

We kicked around the soccer ball,  blew bubbles, climbed on the play structures and played on the swings. It was a fun morning at the park and the Spring weather couldn't have been any more perfect.  Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of the kids playing together but hopefully we'll get to see them more frequently in the coming months.
