Austin, TX - Part 2

While J & I were big fans of all the funkiness in Austin, our favorite part by far was spending time with our friends the GVZ's.

The first day we visited The Thinkery, an awesome children's museum close to downtown.  The kids loved making shadows, playing with life size lite brites, painting and playing with water.   C & L were magnets to the magnets - L making a firetruck and C spelling her name.

For dinner that night we met up at the Salt Lick BBQ, an expansive indoor/outdoor restaurant with a heavenly smokey smell that greets you the moment you step out of the car.  The meat came out family style, ribs, brisket and sausages with lots of sides.  It was amazing.  J is still talking about it.

The girls were a bit shy at first but quickly warmed up to each other and the boys became best buds in no time.  There was an outdoor space where the kids could run around, play 'red light, green light', and where the girls treated us to a stunning performance of Frozen's "Let it go".  Priceless!

After breakfast on Sunday we ventured downtown to a festival at the Zilker Botanical Garden.  There were lots of fun activities for the kids - the girls beelined it to face painting while the boys spent most of their time at the bubble station.  We walked along the fairy trail and then relaxed in a beautiful grove surrounding by food trucks.

We had an early dinner at Guero's, a local mexican favorite and it did not disappoint although the kids   were starting to become a handful (can you guess which two in particular?).  Truth be told they were just very tired and don't we all get cranky when we're tired?  Luckily we still managed to down some margarita and brews and eat some yummy tacos.  J & B took the boys back to the cars to pass out while the girls went boot shopping.

It was the most amazing weekend and the time just flew by.  It made my heart smile how well the kids got along and of course, it was a treat for J & I to reconnect with our friends too.  While we love living in London we definitely are short on good friends we can just hang out with.

We were sad to say goodbye but happy to leave with so many happy memories and of course, super cool tees!

J, B, N & L - thanks for the amazing weekend.  Big hugs!!
