Given that we're in a new house this year, we (I?) had fun figuring out where to put all of our Halloween decorations and what new ones we might need.
We actually ended up with quite a few new ones, much to J's chagrin, since he worries constantly about where we're going to store it all.
1. Day of the Dead skeleton
I had seen similar styles in the grandinrod catalog but on a smaller scale and a bit pricey. All it took was a trip to Michaels and the hardware store to get the look. I love it!

2. Screaming bat
Noise and motion activity, this bat is scary. Even when you know it's there, it can sneak up on you and make you jump!
3. Spider
Our privacy fence was just screaming for a spider.

4. Faceless ghoul

And an old favorite (just because) - our moaning zombie who made it from the US to the UK and back again.

After school C went over a friends house to trick-or-treat while J & K met up with some of K's schoolmates in the neighborhood. We had heard from neighbors that our street doesn't get many trick-or-treaters. Sadly that ended up being the case. We left a basket full of candy at our front door for any takers while we were away and when we arrived back home, practically all the candy was still there.
The good news is that while our street may not have been hopping, our neighborhood definitely was. The main reason we don't get visitors is that we live at the bottom of a big hill that understandably people don't want to have to walk back up. But at the top of the hill the streets were full of kids & parents alike going door-to-door. Some of the houses were super-decorated and it was fun venturing down the secret paths that connect one street to another. Earlier in the day C was confident our neighborhood was 'lame' for Halloween, however she changed her tune by the time she arrived back home with a large bag full of goodies. Her bag was so heavy that the strap broke!

The next day C took over the dining room table sorting and counting her spoils. Wouldn't be surprised if accounting is in her future!

I'm guessing we'll still have candy left come next Halloween.
