Sunset Festival

Every year we look forward to Sunset Celebration Weekend. With it's focus on west coast Travel, Gardening and Cooking, Sunset magazine was made for me. And how lucky we are to live around the corner from Sunset headquarters. What makes the weekend even more special is that almost every year our friend Christine makes this trip out from NY to attend the celebration with us.

The forecast threatened rain all weekend, and yes, there was some but not enough to keep the crowds away. Here are few pictures from the event:

Awesome chicken coop with vegetable garden on top

Cooking demonstration from Tracy Des Jardins, currently in the finale on Top Chef masters, at Sunset's outdoor kitchen. What I wouldn't give to have that in my backyard!

Here is Tracy prepping artichokes for her warm salad. She doesn't smile much on TV, so we weren't sure what to expect. But to our pleasant surprise, she was quite friendly and personable. But no, she wouldn't tell us if she won or not but I'm certainly rooting for her.

Largest paella pan ever. We couldn't pass this up for lunch. And it was as good as it looks. It turns out this vendor was "Gerard's Paella" who beat Bobby Flay in the Paella throwdown.
Christine and K on our way out. K slept through most of the event but woke up for the pizza tasting. By the end of the day, Christine was his new best friend.
