K is Two

K's actual birthday was celebrated in Belgium. He opened presents in the hotel room, spent the day exploring and capped the night off with a lollipop.
But when Grandma & Grandpa were visiting we had our own little family birthday celebration. The birthday boy thoroughly enjoyed his cupcake and would have eaten the whole plate if we let him.
It's hard to believe how quickly the past two years have flown by. Having to keep up with two little ones seems to make the days and weeks go so much quicker. I do try to remind myself regularly to step back and savor the moments I spend with K since they seem to be so fleeting. I just love this little guy who for now is definitely a 'momma's boy'.

He's also "all boy". Right now he's especially into trains and planes. We happen to live on the flight path to Heathrow so he spends hours just looking out our family room window and pointing up at the sky each time a plane flies past. For his birthday we gave him a toy airplane and helicopter, both with magnetic pieces so that you can take the toys apart and put them back together again. K was thrilled with them.
He is very physical and often turns hugs for his sisters into wrestling matches. While he ends up in the stroller a fair amount, he would prefer to walk and run. When his big sis gets tired and wants to ride in the stroller, he happily takes her place scooting all over town.

K is proving to be very demanding and stubborn. He goes head to head with us with staring contests. He's mastered the art of a full-body pout. [see exhibit below]
And the temper! When he doesn't get his way, he has a bad habit of throwing whatever is in his hand at the time. Often it's food, but lately trains seem to be flying which has a high likelihood of hitting and hurting someone. We need to figure out how to curb this behavior.

He's a great reader and I often find him sitting in his room flipping through books. He brings books to us to read to him as well which he gets so excited about. Some of his favorite books these days are "Who Made this Cake?" (a birthday gift from Mommy & Daddy - I highly recommend), Thomas the Train lift the flap book (all lift-the-flap books are a hit, but this one especially), the "About..." books (about birds, about fish etc.) and "Ten in the Bed". Here is a little video of us reading "Ten in the Bed". If you listen closely you'll hear him try to say "roll over":
K babbles constantly but he doesn't say many words. J's mom calls it "54 shades of mmm". We're not too worried though because we know he hears and understands everything.

Every morning he drags his blanket, his tiger and possibly another stuffed animal into our bed. He loves to sleep between J & I. He is a total cuddler and snuggler and I just can't resist my yummy boy.
Happy Birthday Sweet K!
