Aldenham Country Park

Aldenham Country Park is no ordinary park.  It's the site of Pooh's 100 Aker Wood.

We followed the trail to pooh, owl & rabbit's houses, found the north pole and stumbled across many honey pots.

At one point we stopped for a break and J charmed the kids with his grass whistle blowing skills.

There was also a working farm at the park.

The first thing we did was go on a small tour to gather the eggs from the hen house.  We brought them back and scrubbed out the dirt.  We even got to take a half dozen home with us to enjoy.

At the entrance, everyone is encouraged to grab bags of seeds, different bag colors for the different animals.  We made our way around the farm feeding the chickens and turkey's and then the pigs and cows.

We then traveled out to the open pasture to see more animals.

We bought pony ride tickets for the kids but as soon as we arrived at the pony area, K decided he absolutely did not want to go for a ride.  But C was all for it.  I was a bit surprised since she's always been a bit skittish around animals.  Seeing her up on the horse (who seemed a lot bigger than a pony in my eyes!) even made me a little scared but C didn't seem to mind one bit.

For the past few months she's been asking us to sign her up for horse back riding lessons (conveniently, there is a stable next to her school).  Given how well she did, J & I are seriously considering it.
