Disneyland Paris - Day One: Arrivée & Buffalo Bill

To celebrate K's birthday and to give ourselves a little break after the house buying/moving mayhem we took a trip to Disneyland Paris.  Getting there couldn't be easier - we hopped the 'disney express' Eurostar train out of St. Pancras and 2 1/2 hrs. later we arrived at the gates of Disneyland.

We stayed at  the Newport Bay Club, one of the Disneyland Hotels which made life so much easier.  Choosing a hotel was an easy decision - it was the only Disney Hotel with rooms left when we booked a few weeks ago. While it was still a 15 min. walk to the park, it was super convenient and getting into the park earlier and using the separate entrance for hotel guests was a huge time-saver.

After dropping bags at the hotel we ventured to the park and arrived just in time to see the Parade.

It's so fun to see all the characters together.  While the kids didn't know all of the characters, they still enjoyed the spectacle of it all.

The park was all decked out for Christmas which made the magical setting even more magical.

Once the parade was over we didn't have much time before dinner so we opted for rides with the short lines (although there weren't many).  The first ride we went on was "It's a small world" and then the Carousel.

Dinner was at "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show", a dinner theatre extravaganza in Disney Village (just outside the park gates). C was not thrilled with the very strong barnyard smell but luckily we all got used to it in time for dinner.  There were horses and buffalo's and cowboys and indians, not to mention the cast of disney characters.  We sat around the arena in our cowboy hats watching the show and eating some decent grub - ribs, chicken, potatoes and cornbread.  It was sort of funny being in France watching a reenactment of the American History in French & English.

Everyone enjoyed themselves at the show and it was a good start to our Disney adventure.
