Leeds Castle at Christmastime

We've been doing a lot of house stuff on the weekends (more on that later!) so we decided we needed a break and took a ride out to Leeds Castle.  We had been there in the summer and loved it so we all were excited for a return visit (helps that entry tickets are good for a full year too!)
In December there are a bunch of special activities at the Castle for Christmas.  First stop was the Husky Sleigh ride.  While not a traditional sleigh, and no snow anywhere to be found, the kids still enjoyed the ride.
We then visited the Christmas market and took a ride on the Carousel.
There was a stall set up in the market for kids craft activities. There was a selection of Christmas puzzles that the kids could color in.  K quickly decided he preferred his puzzle sans color but C sat for a good 20 min. meticulously coloring in her puzzle.
The grounds at the Castle are pretty spectacular so the kids spent a lot of time just running around, being goofy and posing for mom.  That said, K tries to tackle C every time he gets close to her so it was nearly impossible to get a good photo of the two of them together.
The kids kept wanting to race each other but K lost almost every time so there were lots of tears and pouting.  And while J & I tried, C just could not understand why she should let him win (hmm, wonder where she got that from.  I can hear my brothers laughing right now).
We also took some time to marvel at the Black Swans.
After lunch we walked to the playground at the far end of the castle grounds.  On our way we checked out the Christmas tree, ran through the garden and then stopped to watch the falconry demonstration.
The castle itself was decorated in a "12 Days of Christmas" theme but the kids decided they were too pooped to visit the castle.  But we did stop by to see the reindeer parked out front before leaving.
All in all, a fun day at the Castle which helped put us in a Christmas mood.
