Then the next day five men came to pack up the rest of the house and move us to our new home less than 5 min. away. The kids and I left in the morning soon after the truck arrived to head over to the new house. We needed to stay out of the way of the movers and possibly more importantly, Virgin media was coming to turn on the TV/Phone/Internet. We can live without a washing machine and dryer for a bit but internet, no way!
As soon as we arrived at the new house the kids ran to their rooms. C has a lovely room with a fireplace and wood floors. But what she's most excited about is having a ceiling high enough for her bunk bed. Now she can finally sleep on the top bunk.
K's room is a bit smaller but has a really cool animal mural on the wall (technically it's wallpaper but the effect is the same). The previous owners had a little boy who slept in this same room. K was happy about the mural but a bit bummed that the little boy's train table did not stay in the room as well.
Given that all of our stuff was in boxes at the old house and we had no furniture yet the kids and I had to make do. C spent hours playing with some lego bricks in the empty kitchen while K found the only seat in the house (the stairs) to play on the iPad.

Around 3:30 the movers finally arrived and started bringing stuff in. The kids were super excited to see their bikes come off the truck. They also had fun waving at the little girl in the window across the street.
The movers started at 9am and weren't finished until close to 8pm. It's hard to believe that we have a full storage locker in CA but yet we still have so much stuff with us in London. Hopefully this move will give us the opportunity to pare down a bit. It was a super long day but we hit our goal which was to sleep in our new house that night. Unfortunately the queen size box spring couldn't make it up the stairs so J & I are back to college living with our mattress on the floor.
Congrats on your big purchase!
