C's 6th Birthday Bowling Party

To celebrate her 6th birthday, C decided she was sick of dance parties (what most of the girls tend to have) and wanted to go bowling.  Works for me (remember my 40th?)

While we invited C's whole class, we ended up with only had 8 kids at the party (seems it was a busy weekend for everyone).  The party was at 10am on Saturday and the bowling alley was absolutely packed.  Every lane was booked with parties.  After the girls got outfitted with their bowling shoes we hit the lanes.  There were bumpers to prevent gutter balls and there was a metal shoot to help the girls aim and give the balls some oomph.

The girls really enjoyed themselves, as did K.  There were even a few strikes!

We ordered food (burgers or chicken nuggets) for each kid which was brought out about halfway through the party.

And then it was time for cake.  The staff was marveling at C's bowling pin cake.

J & I had fun making it.

Oddly, in the UK kids don't eat cake at the party but take it home with them, usually just wrapped in a napkin.  Not sure why.

For the last 15 minutes the bowling alley staff got all the kids up and did a few dance routines.  They ended with "YMCA".

As favors, each of the girls received bowling pins filled with jewelry beads and string to make a necklace, plus a bouncy ball.

It was an enjoyable (and easy) birthday outing and a fun time was had by all, most importantly the birthday girl.

Happy 6th Birthday, C!  We love you xoxo
