Harvest Festival

K's school put on a Harvest Festival concert for the parents in early October.  The boys looked so cute in their school uniforms and sang quite a number of songs.

Unfortunately the little kids were in seats so we mostly saw the back of K's head but we could see him following along, singing the songs and moving his body/hands when he was supposed to (in case you can't spot him, he's sitting closest to the pole).

My favorite was the retelling of "The Little Red Hen" which included a song about making bread.  K was really into it. I've been trying to get him to teach me the bread song but he'll sing it either really softly or really quickly so that it's impossible for me to understand the words.  I asked him if I could record him singing it, "to show the grandparents", and he responded with an emphatic "no".  Clearly I need to work on my powers of persuasion (or perhaps just resort to bribery).

A few weeks later C's school had a harvest festival as well.  All the girls had to decorate boxes to bring food in for a local shelter.  The girls sang a few songs and then the Vicar read the book "Stone Soup" to the group.  C was super excited since that is one of her favorite stories.

Unfortunately not photos or videos were allowed in the church-the first photo was before the 'rules' were communicated.  While other parents disregarded the rules in this instance I was a rule follower.  Felt impossible not to be in church.

Both performances were very touching and heartwarming. I'm pretty sure I cried at both.
