11 Months Old

K is 11 months old today!

The big event of the month was K's first steps. He's getting a little better every day but he still prefers to crawl since it's a much speedier mode of transportation for him. He also learned how to stack blocks - his biggest tower so far is 4 blocks high.

He has two teeth on top which have just started to pop out. This is one of the reason why his tongue is out in so many recent pictures. He uses his tongue to check out the new white stalactites sprouting in his mouth.

K still does not like to eat solid food and struggles at almost every feeding. We need to use all of our entertaining and distraction tricks to get him to open his mouth. Still, he's weighing in at an impressive 27 pounds so he's clearly not going hungry!

We've started working on his pincer grasp using Gerber puffs. He will actually eat these (we're pretty sure the kid has a sweet tooth) however he needs to work on his technique. Rather than picking the puffs up between his pointer finger and thumb, he whacks his full-hand on top of it a few times until it sticks. He then slaps his hand to his face in the hope that the puff will fall down into his mouth.

Perhaps most importantly, K has finally become a good sleeper. At times it can be a bit hard getting him down at night but he usually sleeps 11-12 hrs. straight. Ah, the joy of sleep!
