The Dreaded Conversation

No, not the birds and the bees one, but the "we're moving" one. J and I had been putting this conversation off for way too long but with so much move talk circulating around us, we figured C must be catching on to the fact that something is up. We also need to start packing up books and stuff so we figured that was bound to trigger a barrage of questions.

Me: C, Daddy and I have something very important to talk to you about. You know how we've been taking trips to London. And that's where Chiara lives. Well, we're going to move there. You, me, daddy and K.
C: And Grandpa Corky?
Me: No, Grandpa Corky can visit us though. And we'll take all of our favorite stuff and your toys...
C: And my bed?
Me: yes, we'll take your bed, and K's crib, and your kitchen...
C: When? Today?
Me: No, not today.
C: Why not today?
Me: We're not moving for a few weeks.
C: Why not today?
M: London isn't ready for us.
C: Why not?
Me: Our new place isn't available yet.
C: Can we go today?
Me: No we still have to pack.
C: Today?

And so goes the conversation. I'm pretty sure C doesn't know what "moving" really means but she was certainly interested in doing it...like today!
