Last Sunday we ventured out to the Docklands. It was a strange place and felt nothing like London at all. Back in the day it was the largest port in London but in recent years it has been redeveloped with modern, hi-rise buildings.
We went because the London Museum of Docklands was recommended as a top place to visit with children. It was located in an old ship warehouse right on the water (in fact, you needed to walk over a bridge to get there).

There was a room on the first floor called Mudlarks that had interactive exhibits for kids.
Blocks with magnets to move crates to/from the wooden boats:
After our Mudlarks session we had lunch in the cafe at the museum. J and I tried to look around the museum a bit more but in the interest of not upsetting the rest of the visitors, we thought it was best to take our brood and leave.
