Hampton Court Palace

Today we took a drive out to Hampton Court Palace, the former palace of Henry VIII.
If anyone is into the PBS series Downton Abbey (which I am!) you would totally get a kick out of this place.
There were lots of different courtyards or 'courts' to explore.
And you could also go up into the rooms themselves. It's neat to imagine what events held in this hall may have been like.
And in case you were concerned about intruders, the walls are decorated with arms:
My favorite part was checking out the kitchen area. It must have been quite the production when in use.

You were also able to walk around the gardens, one of which contained a maze. We let the kids pick the route and with only two dead ends, they led us to the middle.
