Lake Ontario

We had a great week visiting my best friend Jan and her daughters K & M at their beach house on Lake Ontario.
I had been up to the lake with Jan a few times before (the last time for her wedding 11 yrs. ago) but I had never spent much time there. Boy had I missed out. I've always loved the beach and am happy for any beach vacation, but this is a near perfect spot.
After driving through farmlands and wall-to-wall cornstalks, we arrived at the lake. The fine, white sand was only a few steps out the back door. The water was warm and the kids could walk out quite far without it being over their heads. It was hard to keep the kids out of the water and walks quickly turned into swims, regardless of what the kids were wearing. Unfortunately for K that meant some seriously water clogged diapers - one time so heavy that it just fell down between his legs.
We swam. A lot.
We played in the sand.
We found seashells, ladybugs and all sorts of beach treasures.
We didn't go kayaking (which didn't seem to deter C)
We watched sunsets.
We made a bonfire, toasted marshmallows and ate s'mores.
There was sand everywhere (yes, even in the bed). But no one cared (ok, maybe J did a little). And we slept to the sound of the waves lapping onto the beach. There was lots of grilling and big, fun family meals. Plus there was even a Carvel ice cream cake. This is definitely my version of heaven.

The kids loved playing with K and M and there was a car full of tears when we left.
J, K & M - Thank you so much for inviting us to the Lake. It was such fun spending time with you.
