The Games

Having the Olympic Games in London has been a totally amazing experience. The feeling around London is very joyous and festive and it's hard not to get swooped up into the excitement. I managed to get us tickets to lots of events and my commute hasn't been impacted at all. In fact, traveling by bus has never been faster since most personal cars are off the roads. The only downside is that J and I attended most of the events by ourselves rather than together. A few favorite moments:

1. My first (well technically second) Olympic event - Badminton at Wembley Arena. Having played Badminton competitively when I was growing up, it was exciting to watch these athletes and remember back to my playing days. There were three courts setup, with matches being played simultaneously, so there was non-stop action.
2. Meeting our friend Melanie at St. James Park only to find ourselves on the women's triathalon route. The kids (!!!) asked to stop to watch the cyclists which we did. Later, I caught sight of us on TV.
Shot of the TV screen - we're in the bottom right corner
TV closeup - that's me in the blue cap with backpack, Melanie with the sunglasses and C in front with her bike helmet on.
3. Attending Beach Volleyball at Horse Guards Parade with my brother. We sat in the pouring rain and watched the USA women's team upset #1 seed Brazil.
