Last Friday I took off work and spent the day at the Olympic Park.

I was so excited that I could hardly sleep the night before. Aside from the central line being held up and having to take a bus to the Park, the logistics were all managed incredibly well. I was quite impressed. More impressive, was just how beautiful the park itself was. Rolling hills, wildflowers and rivers. And many of the sports venues themselves looked like works of art.

I had tickets to Women's Handball in the morning and Diving in the afternoon, both of which I was super excited to watch. I used to play handball in high school - which now in retrospect seems a bit physical to be playing in gym class - but I loved it. And Team GB was playing which made for a lively crowd.
My seat for diving was a bit far away so it was hard to see the intricacies of the moves, but there was a big screen set up to watch on replay.

During the break between events, I walked around the park and found a nice spot on the grass to each lunch. There was a big TV screen in the center of the park which let you watch all the live events going on. Even if you didn't have tickets to any of the events themselves, this would be a great way to spend the day.

Before leaving, I took a picture with Wenlock, the Olympic Mascot, versions of which can be found through out London.

And in case you're wondering why I got all the fun, J spent the following day at Olympic Park with the same itinerary.
