Cookie Factory

Every year we choose a weekend between Thanksgiving and Christmas where our home turns into a cookie factory. J & I both love to bake so it's usually a welcome event although it never fails that we are burnt out on baking & 'testing' by Sunday night. We used to bake together, one of us playing sous to the other, but with the kids it's a bit more challenging. So now we just take turns baking batches from start to finish.

Most of our recipes come from a Sunset Cookies magazine although we have added a couple over the years. This year's treats include: almond tea cookies, thumbprints w/raspberry filling, bark crumbles, macaroons, white chocolate-covered pretzels, brownies, and ginger cookie. Sadly, the sugar cookie dough was made but it never made it to the oven.

Most of the cookies I give out to colleagues at work but we also give some to our neighbors. This year the fan favorite was clearly the macaroons, followed by the almond tea cookies, thumbprints and a new addition, bark crumbles. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of our finished tins & boxes.

Let me know if you have a yummy cookie recipe that you think we should try next year. We're always on the look out for new ones. In the words of my mother, the only requirement is that it needs to be "good, easy".
