J's parents are in town and unfortunately it is supposed to rain all weekend. So even though it was cold, we took advantage of the sunny day and ventured down to
Happy Hollow Park & Zoo in San Jose. We had only been there once before in early summer and we had a pretty miserable time. It was very crowded with lots of camp kids running around somewhat unsupervised. And C did not understand (or like) the concept of waiting in line so we didn't even go on one ride.
This time was an entirely different experience and we had a fantastic morning. We started the day at the puppet theater and then proceeded to go on almost all the rides (luckily C made the height requirement or else there would have been lots of tears).
The first ride - the carousel of course! With Grandpa:

Most kids wait for the fire truck since you can ring the bell but C enjoyed the police car just as much:

First time on swings. By the end she started to get into it and tried using her body to make the swing move a bit more:

Some of the rides, like the Bug ride, were not very crowded so C got to ride multiple times.

K unfortunately spent most of the time in his stroller but he did get to ride on the dragon with the rest of the family.

By the time we made our way to the exit, C was exhausted and overtired (read: crying, kicking, etc. - all the parental good stuff that make being in public oh so much fun). But we couldn't leave without one more ride on the carousel.

A carousel ride - sure to bring a smile every time and a perfect way to end our Happy Hollow visit.
