January - A sad start to the year with the passing of J's Uncle Joel and my dear childhood friend Sharon and her daughter Margaux. J drove our new (used) family-mobile home from L.A. And we had a special visit from Uncle Brian who dropped in to see us on his way home from Hong Kong.
February - Lots of friends came over to meet Baby K. We spent most of the time in a sleep-deprived daze and our days consisted of feeding, burping, diaper changing & whenever possible, sleeping.
March - A fun-filled 3-week trip to Florida to visit grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins and show off Baby K. Unfortunately we hit a cold spell but that didn't stop C from swimming in every pool she could.
April - C started school and loved it! She and Audrey quickly became best buds. Jan & Kate came to visit and we spent Easter together. We also planned some fun day trips including visits to the coast, Muir Woods and Ardenwood Farm. On the downside, C fell at the playground and had to get 4 stitches under her lip.
May - Back at work. I'm sad. J panics. But we all survive with flying colors.
June - Party season! C turns two and we have fun parties almost every weekend.
July - The parties continue...
August - Unfortunately Hand, Foot & Mouth disease hits the house. First K and then C so we spent way too much time indoors. Grandpa Corky came for a weeklong visit which included a trip to San Francisco to see a Giants baseball game (they later went on to win the 2010 World Series - whoo, hoo!). I was away from the kiddies for two weekends. First to Aspen to celebrate Gayleen & Michael's wedding and then camping at Cal's "Lair of the Bear" with my friend Swati for a women's wellness weekend. J clinches his win for hubby of the year title.
September - Grandma & Grandpa J came to CA for a visit. C had her first haircut and K popped his first tooth.
October - Pumpkin picking on the coast and a family weekend trip to San Luis Obispo. For Halloween, we dressed-up as the 'family farm' and went trick-or-treating with friends.
November - K walks on his own!
December - Our baby turned one and Uncle Matt came out for K's birthday celebration. We spent Christmas at home with the GVZ's and Grandma & Grandpa J flew out to CA to ring in the New Year with us.
It's amazing to reflect back on the year to see how many things happened and what a difference a year makes. K went from a being a newborn to a toddler and cemented his place in our family. We can't imagine life without him in it. And C is now her own, independent little person. She's curious and smart, has her own friends, talks in full sentences and dresses herself. But unfortunately, the year wasn't all fun and games and we were saddened by the passing of many family members and friends. So with mixed emotions we say goodbye to 2010 and hello to 2011.
