Big Girl Bed - Part 1

We decided it was time to move C from a crib to a real bed a few months ago. She still sleeps perfectly fine in the crib and doesn't try to climb out. Granted, she has climbed IN on her own a few times, but in the morning when she wakes up she just lays in bed and cries "mommmeeee" until we go in and rescue her. But we really wanted to get K out of the pack n play and into a real bed with a real mattress. So we ordered C a bunk bed in early November and to our disappointment it STILL has not arrived.

But rather than wait any longer (and to be ready when the bunk bed finally shows up), we went mattress shopping this weekend. C was pretty excited about the prospect, and when I mentioned it to her over breakfast she immediately decided she was 'all done' and quickly changed out of her pj's into clothes. She put her socks and sneakers on too. Unfortunately it was only 7:30 in the morning so we still had a few hours to kill before the mattress store opened.

C was a bit hesitant when we walked into the store, but the salesperson was super friendly and took us right to the 'big girl bed' section. C hopped on the mattress and laid down like a pro (hmm, that sounds wrong doesn't it?). We put a pillow under her head and she just chilled for the entire time while we discussed options and prices. She then proceeded to try out every mattress in the store. Some of the beds were so high she reminded me of the "princess and the pea". I'm bummed that I didn't take any pictures.

The mattress should be delivered later this week so operation BGB is to be continued....

  1. Wow. I spent lots of time shopping and deciding for the bed, but not the mattress. I just went to Costco and got the Twin Mattress. It's pretty darn comfortable. So glad we went from crib to twin bed. It's much easier to go to sleep w/ G than deal w/ him in our bed.
